Our Campaigns

EcoContribution is a grassroots website dedicated to environmental protection. We strongly believe in the butterfly effect, hence our mascot in the upper left corner of this page. With the flutter of its wings, a butterfly can cause a hurricane on the other side of the world. Try it yourself and see what happens...

EcoContribution has set up the following campaigns to help you do something about the environment;

action campaigns
  • Help reduce te number of plastic bags.
information campaigns
  • The threat of mercury in the tuna you eat.
  • Environmentally-friendly shrimp; choosing the right shrimp to help marine species.
You can return to this page at all times by clicking Campaigns at the top of the page.

Help reduce the number of platic bags

Plastic bags can take up to 400 years to biodegrade. They are easily carried by the wind into our rivers and oceans where they injure or cause the death of hundreds of thousands of marine animals every year.

Help this cause by signing the petition.

Tuna Alert!

Tuna is a favorite of sushi amateurs as well as school children. It is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and protein. But did you know that eating too much tuna could be bad for you? Some types of tuna have alarmingly high levels of mercury. And because it is such a lucrative fishery, some species are now threatened.

Learn to choose the right types of tuna for your health and also which other fish offer the same nutrition without the mercury.

All Shrimp are not equal!

Warmwater shrimp represents only 2% of the world's fish catch. Yet it is responsible for one third of the bycatch, with a rate of 10 to 1; for every pound of tropical shrimp, 10 pounds of bycatch must die. Find out what this industry does not want you to know.

The good news is that there is a very environmentally-friendly alternative; coldwater Canadian shrimp. Learn to differentiate the two types of shrimp and help preserve the Oceans.
