Chronology from June 2005
to April 2007
- April 27, 2005; Mr. Stéphan Tremblay
(PQ) introduced Bill 390 to the National Assembly.
- May 11, 2005; Mr. Thomas J. Mulcair (LPQ),
Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and
Parks at the time, rejected Bill 390 for a second
reading.
- June 2005; EcoContribution launches this
petition in support of Bill 390.
- October 27, 2005; EcoContribution delivers
a first petition of 50,023 signatures
to Mr. Tremblay. The petition is presented to the
National Assembly, but Mr. Mulcair rejected Bill 390
for a second reading, for the second time.
- February 28, 2006; Mr. Claude Béchard
(LPQ) replaces Mr. Thomas J. Mulcair as Minister of
Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks.
- March 2006; Bill 390 is kept on the Order
Paper by the Liberal Party of Quebec (the LPQ could
have chosen to drop Bill 390 - the first petition
of 50,023 signatures delivered by EcoContribution
probably had some part in this favourable decision).
- June 7, 2006; EcoContribution delivers
a second petition of 64,045 signatures
to Mr. Tremblay, which is presented to the National
Assembly. Press
conference.
- October 11, 2006; Mr. Stéphan
Tremblay announces he is leaving the political scene
for an undetermined period of time, for personal reasons,
and will not be seeking reelection in March of 2007.
The Parti Québécois is maintaining Bill
390 and will continue to promote it. The petition
is therefore still open and current.
- April 18, 2007; Mrs. Line Beauchamp (LPQ)
is named Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment
and Parks, with the naming of the new Liberal Cabinet
(following the March 2007 provincial elections).
